The NFR is the super bowl of rodeo.The NFR is held each year in the first full week of December.World championship titles are awarded to the individuals who earn the most money in his or her event.There are 7 events you can qualify in.Team Roping,
Bull Riding,Saddle Bronc,Bull Wrestling,Barrel Racing,Calf Roping,Bareback Ridding.
Team Roping-Divided into "Headers" and "Heelers" in 1995
Calf Roping-is a rodeo event that features a calf and a rider mounted on a horse. The goal of this timed event is for the rider to catch the calf by throwing a loop of rope from a lariat around its neck, dismount from the horse, run to the calf, and restrain it by tying three legs together, in as short a time as possible.
Barrel Racing- is a rodeo event in which a horse and rider attempt to complete a clover-leaf pattern around preset barrels in the fastest time.
Bareback-s a form of horseback riding without a saddle. It requires skill, balance, and coordination, as the rider does not have any equipment to compensate for errors of balance or skill.
Bull Riding- refers to rodeo sports that involve a rider getting on a large bull and attempting to stay mounted while the animal attempts to buck off the rider.In the American tradition the rider must stay on top the bucking bull for eight seconds.
Saddle Bronc-that attempts to throw or buck off the rider.Trys to stay on for 8 seconds
Bull Dogging- is a rodeo event in which a horse-mounted rider chases a steer, drops from the horse to the steer, then wrestles the steer to the ground by twisting its horns.
